I am convinced that the subject of ecology presents us with an ideal opportunity for priestly formation and evangelization. For at the heart of creation is the figure of Jesus Christ, the One through whom all things were made.
And so, as Academic Dean of The Saint Paul Seminary, it is my pleasure to invite thought leaders to participate in a discussion on the subject of “Ecological Conversion in Theological Formation.” Laudato Si’ calls all Catholics to experience an ecological conversion, “whereby the effects of their encounter with Jesus Christ become evident in their relationship with the world around them. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience.” (LS 217)
We are partnering with Catholic Rural Life to foster a discussion among thought leaders as to how we might achieve this outcome in a way that is consistent with our distinct Catholic mission. A generous stipend will be granted to accepted participants.

Please submit your application by November 1, 2025.
We hope to foster a professional conversation among committed Catholics and seek ways to advance a vision of Catholic integral ecology in theological formation.
