Rural Life Winter Seminar – CRL Salina

The Rural Life Winter Seminar hosted by CRL Salina will be on March 7, 2020, in the Hall of Bishops at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. The seminar will focus on agricultural ethics, conservation, and a path to farming for service members and veterans. Check-in will begin at 9:30 am, with the seminar beginning at 10:00 am. Mass with Bishop Gerald Vincke will be at 11:30 am followed by lunch and the afternoon speakers. Adjournment will be at 4:00 pm.

Keynote speakers include Dr. Mykel Taylor, associate professor of agricultural economics at Kansas State University. Dr Taylor specializes in farm management and grain marketing. Dr Lucas Haag is a crop production and agronomy specialist for Northwest Kansas with Kansas State University Experiment Station in Colby. COL (Ret) Gary LaGrange is with the Save the Farm Organization. Their objective is to provide occupational agricultural training to veterans and transitioning service members. The four pillars in the farm model are: transition, training, therapy, and succession.

Cost of the seminar is $20 per adult and $10 for children under 12, and includes lunch. On-line registration will begin on February 1 at salinadiocese.org/rural-life and closes on March 3.
