Catholic RuralLife announces new staff members

Catholic Rural Life (CRL) has two new staff members: Matt Mamura is our manager of major donor development and Jonathan Liedl is the new communications coordinator.

Executive director Jim Ennis said he is very pleased to announce these new appointments to Catholic Rural Life, which celebrated its 90thanniversary this past November and has much in store for the coming years.

“Matt brings a wealth of experience to Catholic Rural Life,” Ennis said. “Matt will manage our ambitious capital campaign and help grow membership.”

An important complement to that, Ennis said, is raising our profile among parishes, dioceses and the general public through publications and social media. “Our other new staff member Jonathan brings expertise and energy to our communication efforts. He will broaden our social media reach to network members as well as to others who are not yet familiar with Catholic Rural Life.”

Both Matt and Jonathan are based in St. Paul, Minn., which is the location of the CRL satellite office established by the executive director in 2009 on the campus of the University of St. Thomas.

Here’s more about our new staff:

Matt MamuraMatt Mamura is the manager of major donor development. His primary duties are donor development with the Tillers of the Earth capital campaign committee, growth of current and new membership, development projects and grant writing assistance.

Before joining Catholic Rural Life, Matt worked in non-profit donor and committee development, membership and project management with the Boy Scouts of America, serving rural communities in Minnesota and South Dakota, as well as suburban and urban communities in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minn. He also brings experience in sales, marketing and project management from his for-profit industry background.

Matt earned a degree in Communications-Public Relations from the University of North Dakota. He is originally from Sioux City, Iowa.

Jonathan LiedlJonathan Liedl is the communications coordinator for Catholic Rural Life. He will manage the organization’s social media, edit our periodic magazine, and develop and implement the communications strategy. Prior to joining CRL, Jonathan worked as a journalist for the National Catholic Register, EWTN News Nightly, and the web-journal Ethika Politika.

Jonathan received his B.A. in political science and Arabic studies from the University of Notre Dame in 2011 and is currently a graduate fellow in the Catholic Studies program at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. Jonathan hails from Pequot Lakes, Minn.

“On behalf of our Board and current staff members, we warmly welcome Jonathan and Matt to our small but growing office,” Ennis said. “Together we will continue to fulfill our long-time Catholic Rural Life mission to rural America.”

The other staff of Catholic Rural Life are: Darlene Limoges, bookkeeping and mailing coordinator, Des Moines, Iowa; Beth Hyser, project coordinator, based in St. Paul, Minn.; and Robert Gronski, policy coordinator, based in St. Louis, Mo.
